Carl Julius Fritzsche, Ueber den Pollen (1837)

Macro and micro life forms are a continual muse. I did a small series of watercolor studies on 1″ clay tiles of pollen molecules based on the amazing illustration work of St. Petersburg based German pharmacist and chemist Carl Julius Fritzsche. The Public Domain Review showcases his book, Ueber den Pollen (1837), which is a compendium of his illustrations of various strains of pollen in extreme magnification.
